A domain is the name people type to find you — like yourrestaurant.com. You don't buy a domain once; you rent it, usually for a monthly or yearly fee.
Most domain providers charge between $10 and $30 a month once you add hosting (the part that actually keeps your site online). It can get confusing fast — renewals, DNS, SSL certificates, hosting plans…
